Background Removal refers to the elimination of background or background image from where the object/objects are placed. By eliminating the background, the entire background or only the background parts we desire can be eliminated.
Previously, before the arrival of digital photography and accompanying technology, background removal was carried out in a more laborious process. It took place in a dark room with the necessary environmental conditions, including the right ambient temperature. The film was immersed in the working solution and was continuously monitored. Overexposure of the film to the solution could result in an increase in background blur and decreased resolution.
Nowadays though, thanks to technology, background removal is done with any digital photo editing software such as a GNU Image Manipulation program or GIMP, or Adobe’s Photoshop. GIMP is a special type of graphic editing application that can withstand certain types of object-oriented graphics (or vector).
If you are a professional graphic designer, or you just like editing photos for fun, you can easily remove the background using professional graphic design software. One of the best programs you should consider using is Photoshop. If you have never used the program before, here is a guide on how to remove the background from an image using Photoshop.

Removing Background Using Photoshop
You should start by opening the Photoshop program. Generally, you need to make sure that the program opens correctly before doing anything. Once opened, you must load the photo you want to edit. To do this, simply click on the “File” tab in the upper left corner of the screen. Then select “Open” and find the photo you want on your system.
After loading the image, you must move it to the extraction platform. To do this, you must click on the “Filter” tab in the navigation menu, then choose the “Extract” action. Doing this will automatically cause the image to be redirected to the “Extract” platform.
Using the marker tool, you can indicate the part of the photo that you want to keep. After doing this, a temporary digital painting appears around the outermost area that you want to save. You must click on the paint pot icon and the delimited area will be filled with paint.
You must confirm that you want to delete the background by clicking “OK”. By clicking “OK”, your photo will be redirected to the Photoshop canvas and you can then see the background already eliminated.
You can remove any excess background by right-clicking on the image of the icon in the project. To make the edges sharper and more precise, you can erase the outline of the image.
If the eraser tool is too large, you must adjust the brush size by clicking the arrow on the brush. You can easily change the size of the brush by moving the lever from left to right. You should note that you will get the smallest size by moving the lever to the left. You can give your photo a final appearance and if you are satisfied, you should save it by clicking “File”, then “Save As.” You should name your photo and click “Save” to close the new photo and store on your computer’s hard drive.
